From Magasco Leaving Empire Company to Locko leaving Big Dreams Entertainment to Rythmz leaving Empire Company to Crispy Leaving 12TenMusic. Here are some reasons why most artists leave their record labels.

1). For Greener Pastures:

This is most of the time the main reason why artists leave their record labels as they feel like they can handle everything on their own that is:

From the management to the distribution and creation of their songs.

They want to grow to the stage where they become the sole proprietors of their career.

Most of the time, these artists go on to create their own record labels. An example of this phenomenon is Magasco leaving empire to go create Bboy records.

2). Contract Expiration or Termination:

Music is a business and as such the main aim of every label is to make profit from its artist. An artist can leave a label if his

contract has come to an end with the label and the label may not want to continue working with the artist maybe because the

artist isn’t productive enough and so they either let him endure his time with the label and let him go or terminate his contract and as such, the artist has no choice than to leave.

3). Maltreatment of Personnel:

An artist might be treated badly by his or her label and so this might cause him or her to leave. An artist should be given credit, respect, value and reasonable criticism.

A label cannot get the best out of any artist if she isn’t given those aspects. There are so many situations where artist happily sign to

labels and after a short while, they are looking for how to leave the label. This situation mostly occurs because of maltreatment.

4). No Development in the Label

An Artist can sign in a label but before she does that, the artist and the label boss come to an agreement and most of the time, the artist has a vision of where he wants to be by the end of their partnership.

The artist might not reach his or her goals due to lack of finances, poor management, branding and promotion of the artist by the

label and so the artist becomes disappointed that there is little or no progress in his career and so leaves after their partnership, a good example is Caneroonian rapper, Crispy.

In a nutshell, these are the main reasons why artists leave their labels. Feel free to drop a comment on this matter at hand below!
