Jovi Finally dropped his long awaited new album “God Don Kam” After a long hiatus from the game.

For starters, the rapper has shown more maturity and professionalism in his music since he released 16 wives. With no features on the album, Jovi has forcefully drawn the attention of the Cameroon music industry and has cemented his name as arguably the Cameroonian rapper of all times.

Below is our first listen review of Jovi’s “God Don Kam” Album.

1) “Man Pass Man Part 4”- We feel like this song has that traditional setting where he brings you to his roots then delivers the good music we understand, he gives us the punchlines and the bars but this song can also be interpreted in any way but we believe in this introductory song he tries to remind us who he is, what he has been through and where he comes from. Lyrical content on point, Beat is OK, Delivery is excellent.

2) “Pissam”- Very dope tune, one of our favorites on the album, Jovi on this track is bragging about himself “I’m the best that ever did it”. Dope rhyme scheme, Strong Bars, and lyrical food for thought. He finishes the song by mixing his dialect, French and English.

3) “Oleu”- Jovi on the trap on this one, Le monstre did justice to the beat production and sound quality. This is that type of song that the beat takes you to heaven. We don’t know the meaning of Oleu, but we know fans won’t even care as they shall be seduced by the instrumentals of the song.Dope back up from Reniss too.

4) “Devil No Di Sleep”- we don’t care how many times you have listened to this single before. You will listen to it again as you go through the album.

What should we talk about here?! The fact that he is encouraging hard work and saying an idle man is the devil’s workshop? Or the beat is off the hook? Or the delivery is outstanding? You get the point by now but we will also say jovi can do better with the lyrics of the song but overall it’s a song you will want to listen to again.

5) “Sok Sok”- “Sok Sok” is a Cameroonian slang which means plenty. He switches to danceable mode. He is trying to get a girl to come see him at his place and tells her he has a lot of things she likes at his place and he has them “sok sok”. It’s an ok song, we love the concept and the how danceable it can be to an average Cameroonian.

6) “Jengu”-When we first listened to this song we were so disappointed, not on the song or on the lyrics. The song is one of the best on the album.

As the song’s instrumental has been sampled from Meek Mill’sCold hearted 2” but that’s another topic for another day.

Although this song for us is our 2nd best on the album, just the sampling makes us not to like it and that’s not to say the song isn’t good but to say it’s unprofessional.

 7) “Feel Me Free”- We get images of the Jovi from “Mboko God” in this song when we listen to it. He tells us indirectly not to trust anyone. Dope beat, Crazy Hook and tight verses.

8) “God Don Kam”- As title of the song says, “God Don Kam”. Jovi reminds us that he is ”God” in the Cameroonian industry, and he has come, he is in his prime and still teaching all of us how to grind. He uses his dialect, French and English. It’s an average song and giving the fact that it’s number 8 song out of 14.it can be translated as a good interlude.

9) “Versus Versus”-Jovi is as it real as it gets on this song as he takes us to his past experiences and talks briefly on his journey to legendary status. It’s a dope tune and gives  us a lot of food for thought.

10) “Ndole”- We all know this single. We had this on repeat 4 times before going to the next song. Jovi is just strolling on the beat saying most of the things he has previously said in his previous songs on the album but it still works as it’s a good song to feel yourself with.

11) “Tchak”- This song is confusing, comes off very simple and unique. There is something about that beat that makes you don’t want to press “next”.

12) “20 Ba”-Released a year ago, Jovi tells us that he has 20 million in his account,  and it’s a fact. It’s an average Jovi song as he delivers good flows on the beat.

 13) “No Peace”- our overall favorite song on the album. Jovi touches the softest parts of your emotions as a Cameroonian in this song, too many things he talks about, the Anglophone problem, drugs, corruption etc. It can be interpreted in so many ways. This song honestly shows that jovi is miles further than other rappers in Cameroon.

 14) “God Di Kam”- The closing song of the album. Dope beats, flow and lyrics . Nothing extraordinary about this song and honestly not a nice way to close the album.
