In anticipation of her highly anticipated music video for her song “Charger” featuring the father of her daughter, Mr Leo, Asaba has taken to her social media pages to compose a beautiful and educative message about Co-Parenting.
Here’s what she wrote:
It is common to see two people become enemies after a break up even if a child is involved. They get so bitter that they forget their duties as parents to focus on the heartbreak and what they have lost in the process. Nowadays co-parenting which gives a healthy & peaceful environment for the child’s upbringing is almost impossible because of pride and ego.
While fathers often say “the child will look for me”, mothers deprive the child privileges of a male figure in their life. These decisions sometimes contribute to the number of damaged children out here which is mostly a coping mechanism for these children; yet we blame the government forgetting that we failed to play our role as parents.
We nearly made the same mistake. The wake-up call for us was seeing our daughter transform from a happy and sweet little child to a bitter reserved kid. At this point, we decided to set aside our differences and be the parents she needed.
This writeup is meant to encourage people at the verge of making similar mistakes to reason things out and take well guided decisions. At the end of the day, the children are innocent and deserve better.Parenting is an obligation not a choice.
It is a responsibility ordained by God so do it diligently and wholeheartedly.Be reminded that you have been given the mandate to raise a leader while at it. Do not be selfish, be a parent and allow your co-parent play their role!!
