Cameroon Hip hop has witnessed a decline over the years, with artistes either stepping out of the game or switching to other genres of music like Afrobeats.

Nonetheless, rappers like Stanley Enow, Jovi, Krotal, Mic Monsta and so many others, have performed excellently in making sure that Hip-Hop prevails.

Their dedication on this path has paved the way for Cameroon Hip hop to continue prevailing over the years.

On this note, we are going decipher the top 10 Cameroonian hip hop songs of all time. 

10-Mic MonstaFear

Fear was a song released around mid-2016. It was a blend of Afro and Western Hip hop, in which Mic Monsta proclaimed his dominance and why he was to be feared.

9-KrotalTara

  A classic hit released 10 years ago but was highly underrated at that time. Although Makossa and Bikutsi were the leading genre of music in Cameroon at that time, “Tara” gave hope to most people in the urban hip hop scene as it was 100% street hip hop. This is definitely a song you should check out.

 8-NabstarKing of the Jungle

 Most people don’t know that Nabstar was a rapper and something far from the radio host you know today. “King of the jungle “has a lot of similarities to “Tara” as it was also released 10 years. It had a very good reception by the audience and at that time where Hip-Hop wasn’t well grounded in Cameroon music industry.

7-Ngoma ft Nernos and KikohMangosi

    Weyawi,weyawa!!! That’s how the Sangtum produced tune starts. Ngoma and co released heavy memorable bars on this track. Mangosi was a perfect example of an amazing project: From the beat, the lyrics and then, the video. The video was so popular it even aired on MTV base South Africa and received massive airplay in the country which set Ngoma on a high pedestal in the Hip-hop scene. 

6-KoppoSi tu vois ma Go

     When you talk of Cameroon Hip-Hop classics, this song comes to mind as it was created way before your favorite rapper had decided to be a rapper. Koppo was so popular for his frananglais (blend of French and English) pattern of rap. It gained massive success in the Hip-hop milieu. Everyone who knows this song will surely smile when remembering it.

5-JoviDon 4 Kwat

   This is the song that earmarked the birth of the Mboko genre of music in Cameroon. Don 4Kwat inspired many rappers to follow the same rap style embodied in the song. This debut single of Jovi is a true contender for one of the best hip hop songs of all time.

4-CoolkidSeriously

This song propagated Cool Kid as the leader of the New School Kamer rappers. With the amazing visuals of the song, directed by Dr. Nkeng Stephens, Hip-hop fans went crazy with this banger. It marked new revolution of the young in Cameroon Urban music stratosphere.

3-TenorDo le dab

     Tenor’s breakthrough song into the mainstream in which he revolutionized the dab which was very common and made it look cool in a Cameroonian way. This wasn’t only a rap song but a club banger as every party had to play this tune. It had so much influence that even The First Lady, Madam Chantal Biya, dabbed to it. ‘Do Le Dab’ became national approved, marking the birth of Tenor’s emergence in the hip-hop game.

2-JoviEt p8 koi

Et p8 koi is another Jovi self-produced classic which was a huge hit when it was released. ”Et p8 koi” became the most remixed song in French Africa, as so many artistes jumped on this banger. This was Jovi at his peak and no one could contend his prowess on this song.

1-Stanley EnowHein Pere

This song was an unstoppable street anthem which became Stanley Enow’s breakthrough hit. “Hein Pere” was just so special nationwide, as everyone knew the lyrics by heart. It enjoyed massive airplay worldwide and gained so many accolades.

Hein pere, we can say, is a major reason why Stanley Enow won the award for Best New Act at the 2014 MAMA’s award in a category that featured the likes of Burna Boy and Phyno. So, we undoubtedly, crown Stanley Enow’s Hit song “Hein pere “ the biggest Cameroonian rap song of all time.
