Cameroonian producer Sango Edi, is the Co-founder of Thee 808 Nation. The perfect example of the DIY artist!
WHO IS SANGO EDI?
More popularly known by his beat tag “Draeboi”, Ma ‘Sango’ Edi Mesumbe M is the first child of three to his father and the last of three to his mother.
He dropped out of school after obtaining his Advanced level certificate amidst great displeasure from his mother and started doing music in 2010, starting off as a rapper.
He would always go to his uncle “Stallone” who owned a studio in Buea called Decobra House Recordings, where other players in the music industry such as Ridimz, Boy Tag, and Nkeng Stephens made their first steps, learning about music.
But at that time beats were very expensive and almost nobody paid attention to him when he was there, so he decided to learn how music works by becoming a beatmaker/producer himself.
While finding his way in music he did lots of odd jobs such as truck pushing, selling in the market, and selling phones in order to run his activities.
After doing this for one year and a half he traveled to the UAE to go work and study at a studio there. After the UAE, he came back to Cameroon to establish a recording studio with some partners but it did not go very well, so he had to re-strategize.
So a year and a half after that he and Bine Moukouri founded Thee 808 Nation which has several acts such as Egbe, Zashy and Payne signed unto it.
Sango Edi is one of the top producers and most prolific songwriters in the Cameroonian music industry. His work in Cameroon has led him to write and produce most of the songs performed by Nabila and produced other acts such as Versace, Ebako, Melinda Swan, Brianna Lesly, and Crispy.
Meanwhile, he has also had the opportunity to work at the international level with high profile acts such as Salatiel, Don Jazzy, Korede Bello, and Locko.
This work has earned him nominations for Producer of the Year at several award ceremonies, among which are;
Urban Jamz Awards, Greenlight Awards, and Kings Night’s Awards. He has also been ranked many times among the top ten best producers in Cameroon.
Sango Edi is a proud father of one and has since January 2020 decided to focus on building a solo recording artist career for himself and he has ambitions of one day being one of the biggest Cameroo- nian musical exports to the world.

Sango Edi acquired some decent knowledge about the music business and his ambition to make Cameroonian music as competitive as the music from other parts of the world.
Sango Edi is also very interested in helping create the next generation of artists in Cameroon. He believes that it is very essential to pass down whatever knowledge he has acquired over the years and also he has the wish to participate in the growth of other artists. He believes it is a duty to participate in the growth of others and in collaborating for a general increase in the quality of music in Cameroon.
This drive to collaborate and help other people grow is his prime motivation at Thee 808 Nation.
