Cameroon’s most prestigious music award ceremony which is the Canal d’Or returns with a powerful showcase.
After a 2-year break, Canal D’or once again proves why it is the Cameroonian version of Grammy Awards.
On Saturday the 9th of March 2019, The Cameroon entertainment industry stood still as Canal D’or act 12 took place at Palais des Congres in Yaoundé.
This edition was hosted by Vicky Fokala and President Tchop Tchop under the watchful eyes of our first lady Madame Chantal Biya, The Canal D’or Awards made a solid re-entry after a 2-year2 break.
The Positive Aspects of the Award Show
The award show had so many positive things that were implemented.one of them was the fact that it started on time.
The ceremony was scheduled to start at 9pm and it started at 9pm prompt. The Transitions were smooth throughout the show, time was not wasted uselessly during the show too.
Security was tighter than the previous award show in 2016.
The performances were top notch as live bands were used as well as a DJ for performances.
Standout performances came from Locko, Mr. Leo, Nyangono du Sud, Magasco, Josey, Gasha, Coco Argentee, Senior Pastor, Ko-C, and Tenor.
The stage was very well designed, the sound production was on point and our celebrities were all looking so handsome and beautiful.
This year’s Canal D’or awards was the best Canal d’Or ever hosted in all its years of existence.
Daphne was the star of the show as she grabbed 4 Awards on the night making her the highest on the night.
Her 4 Awards further prove that Canal D’or supports Cameroon music that isn’t a hard banging pop smash.
The awards were all well-deserved and for the first time in a long while, the awards were unbiased.
The Negative Aspects Of Canal d’Or Award Show:
A few nominees came late for the award show. We think artists need to start treating Award events
with respect as it is unprofessional to be late in an award ceremony meanwhile you are a nominee.
It’s morally and professionally disrespectful and wrong. Some artists like: Maahlox and Mink’s didn’t even show up.

• Daphne dedicating her 2nd award to the ongoing ”Anglophone Crisis”.
• Mr. Leo defending himself about his black skinny leather trousers.

Overall, Canal d’Or awards 2019 was a huge success. It was a better-produced event than its previous editions, arguably the best in recent years.
