The 2020 edition of the very Prestigious Grammy awards took place a few days ago, and it was that time once again to not only admire the best musicians of the past year on the international scene, but also check and reflect on who among our current crop of Cameroonian artists can win a Grammy.
Our Neighboring Country Nigeria won big at the Grammys with 2 of their stars; Wizkid and Burna Boy making their nation proud.
With that in mind, we decided to look at 5 Cameroonian Artists who can follow a similar path like their Nigerian Colleagues and make Cameroon Music known Internationally by winning such an award.
In a few lines to come, we present you 5 Cameroonian Artists most likely to win a Grammy Award and they are:
5. MIC MONSTA:
Mic Monsta has been a very consistent artist in the Cameroon music Industry. He has touched lives with many songs of his.
His new Album “Vibes Clinic” is one which is full of sounds of Cameroon Culture and with that in mind, he is one of the artist who can win a Grammy award as he ticks most of the boxes for this award.
4. DAPHNE:
Daphne Njie is arguably the biggest Female Artist in the Country.
She has been on top of her game ever since her days of her hit single “Calée” and has received numerous national and international awards like;
Canal D’ors, Afrimma Awards, Afrima Awards, and we don’t think Grammy awards will be an exception for her to add to her trophy chest given how talented and creative she is.
3. MR LEO:
The Lion of Africa as he calls himself has seen so much Artistic Growth as an Artistic form singing popular sounds to singing songs that touch the community and impact people like “Zege Zege or Time“.
His vibe has always been on another level and with him representing his Lamnso culture, we see it likely for him to win a Grammy award with the amount of work he is putting in.
2.LOCKO:
Yema as he is popularly called has made a name for himself as one of the most Hardworking and talented Cameroonian Artist of his Generation.
With Album after Album, Hit after Hit. It’s very difficult not to see the efforts Locko puts in his music.
When it concerns the Grammy Awards, we feel like he is one Cameroonian artist with substantial chances of receiving it as his music is already accepted on the International scene.
His song “Magnet” is used as part of the Soundtrack Album of the Block Buster Movie Coming To America 2 ,Sounds of Zamunda”.
Given this kind of accolades in his possession, we won’t be surprised to see him win the grammy award in the future.
1. Salatiel:
This list couldn’t have made any sense if Salatiel wasn’t number 1.
He is at the moment the most likely Cameroonian to win a Grammy award and for very obvious reasons.
Salatiel just recently collaborated with Beyonce on the Lion King Album which actually won so many Grammys a few days ago.
Salatiel already gave the world his own sophomore album last month in “Africa Represented “ which is a representation of Numerous African sound.
The Album also features numerous award winning African artists like StoneBwoy, Teni, Sauti Sol, Dready Christ etc.
It was quite unfortunate his song with Beyoncé didn’t get nominated, but with the rate at which he is pushing the Cameroonian sound worldwide, we wouldn’t be surprised to see him win a Grammy anytime soon.
So there you have it. 5 Artists who are most likely to win a Grammy Award.
