His songs touch on a wide array of themes including love, democracy, justice, the ills of illegal immigration, the negative effects of colonialism on the African content, corruption, bad governance, etc.

JM Tosam’s New Song “SAY NO” talks about bad governance which has become the norm rather than the exception in post-colonial Africa.

According to singer JM Tosam, the result of this general political ineptitude is an enduring economic depression that has turned resource-endowed to resource-cursed countries, left at the mercy of manipulative and rapacious international financial institutions, where these countries have become perpetual beggars.

The long-term effect of this is poor living conditions, high unemployment, and generalized poverty, which has left young people with no other option than to resort to illegal immigration to Europe and America for greener pastures.

Some take the risk to go through the Sahara desert and Mediterranean Sea and even end up paying the ultimate price. If our leaders govern with a sense of the common good, we shall have a more stable and prosperous continent. Say no! Staying indifferent is complacent and, therefore, inadvertently, being accomplices. Say no to corruption; say no to yeye politics; say no to bad governance.
